Purging and Renaming Ceremony

Legend has it that each and every vessel is recorded by name in the Ledger of the Deep and is known personally to Neptune, the god of the sea.  We decided to rename the boat so the first thing in order was to purge the previous name of our boat from the Ledger of the Deep and from Neptune’s memory.  Our Camano had 3 previous owners so the decision was made to purge all previous boat names;  Upwind, New Horizons and Manana.  The names were written on an ingot and ceremoniously dropped into the sea.

Champagne was first shared with the sea from east to west in honor of Neptune and the occasion and then amongst our friends to toast the purge.

Next came the renaming ceremony and several additional bottles of champagne!  Once again we called upon Neptune to guard and keep safe our vessel which is now and hereafter known as "Tour de Loop".    A generous pour was made first to the sea and then amongst ourselves.  Next came appeasing the gods of wind for smooth seas and fair winds.  Champagne was flung to the North in honor of Great Boreas, exalted ruler of the North Wind, to the West in honor of Great Zephyrus, exalted ruler of the West Wind, to the East in honor of Great Eurus, exalted ruler of the East Wind,

and to the South to honor Great Notus, exalted ruler of the South Wind.  Again our glasses were raised, and everyone shouted,  TO THE SEA...TO THE SAILORS OF OLD...TO THE SEA... To Tour de Loop!
