Lexington, Michigan

Looking onto Oldford's Marina and the Lexington Municipal Marina.  We planned on staying at the municipal dock after loading our diesel tanks but because of the high winds and where the slip they were going to assign us it was easier to hang a left from the fuel dock and pull right in to an Oldford's Marina slip!

Another view of the marinas from the harbor breakwater.

The harbor breakwaters walkway.

This is a Cedar Waxwing.

Stunning bird.  Love his yellow tipped tail and red tipped wings and how about his Zorro mask?

Mom tends to finding a better feeding ground for the brood while....

dad is interested in fast food.

And there you go.  He found it.

Overlooking the marina.

Well manicured yard.

At the top of the hill the historic downtown begins....

Looking down the main vein of Huron Avenue.

Had an okay dining experience at a Lexington landmark.

The Noble Bank was built in 1882.  Currently is a specialty/gift shop.  Wished I had spent more time there.

Enough said.....

This garden was outside another specialty shop which was closed!

The flowers are just gorgeous.  If you put a path in and line it with flowers in bloom then I am assuming they want you to stroll and check out the surrounding area.

So I did.

A heart with a pocket to place flowers.

Extremely appealing and well manicured home.  The type of home you stand back and admire.

St. Denis Catholic Church was built in a Spanish Mission style back in 1840.

Closer view.  A woman saw me admiring the church and invited me to come in.  We talked about the town and its struggles.  She told me to take as much time as I needed.  Before I left I made a donation.

Breathtaking!

The cobalt blue is mesmerizing.  I was surrounded by sheer beauty and a powerful presence.  A very moving experience.

Inviting winery beckoning us to enter and so we did.

Background:  "Built in 1876, the second floor housed the Town Hall and was commonly known as The Lexington Opera House. This was the cultural center for the town. The Masonic Lodge owned the third floor and built The Old Town Hall. The old fire hall was located on the first floor."

They have a chalice, too (that's what our stainless steel wine cups remind me of) sitting right underneath their sign.

The wines they made were all sweet and neither of us likes sweet wine.  Good thing for us that in addition to the wine they make they also brew their own beer which is what we had sampled and it was good.

Our new friends, Dave and Janel.  He works for Ford and there were in town for a nice long relaxing weekend.
