Having left Lake Erie we are now heading north on the Detroit River.
South side of Detroit. Is Detroit emulating Miami with those powder blue buildings. Or, are they becoming the new home of the blues?
Up ahead is the Ambassador Bridge which is a suspension bridge connecting Detroit, Michigan to Windsor, Ontario. It is said to be the "busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume: more than 25 percent of all merchandise trade between the U.S. and Canada crosses the bridge."
A view of the Detroit skyline.
Left, Detroit. Right, Windsor.
Detroit Princess once served as a gambling boat in Louisiana. It was purchased and relocated to Detroit and now offers weekend dining cruises and private parties. Behind it sits the Detroit Financial District.
One Detroit Center is the tallest building on the left and the Renaissance Center owned by GM is on the right.
We were hoping to make a Detroit Tigers baseball game but wouldn't you know it, Detroit was playing the "Tribe" in Cleveland.
One third of Windsor's waterfront skyline is Caesars Windsor. The Canadians beat Detroit to the punch by opening the first gambling casino.
We stayed at Kean's Marina. When we pulled up to our dock in the marina I discovered that our bow line had fallen overboard at some point during our rough sea trip and had been dragging in the water. The jagged edge at the tip indicated it had been introduced to our prop which meant we needed to call in a diver.
The diver happened to live on his boat at the marina. Turns out he is a police officer and works the casinos at night and also dives for the police department when needed which my guess would be often. The line above was so tightly wound around the prop it took him 45 minutes to cut it off!
We were "warned" not to walk to the Sinbad's restaurant which we could see but because there was a canal separating it from our marina the walk to get to the restaurant was over a half mile. Thank goodness Sinbad's had car service to pick us up and drop us off safely.
Looking back at the marina.
And our boat neighbors.
The next morning we are off again en-route to Port Huron.
